Bridgetown Baptist Church was formed in 1979 by a group of people led by Bro. Rolla Utley. Having come to understand the Doctrines of Grace, they desired to form a church through which these truths could be preached to the community of Bridgetown and the surrounding area. Bro. Utley retired in 1994 and Bro. Larry Dean was called from Bossier City Louisiana where he had served in three Sovereign Grace churches; Reformed Baptist Church of Shreveport, New Testament Baptist Church of Shreveport, and Grace Community Church of Shreveport. We, the congregation of Bridgetown Baptist Church, are an independent, God- fearing and God loving family oriented church providing Biblical answers to life's problems. We purpose, by God's grace, to carry out the Great Commission in our setting. We will go into our community with the gospel of the Sovereign Grace of God in the Finished Work of Jesus Christ, discipling those who believe to Historic Christianity as defined in the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith. We will celebrate our faith in traditional Christian worship; we will evangelize and train our children; and we will support faithful gospel missionaries at home and abroad through direct gifts and prayers, looking always to Jesus Christ, the Foundation of our church. |

Bridgetown Baptist Church supports missions and missionaries through direct gifts which come from our 'Faith Promise Offerings'. Each month our members set aside a specific amount in addition to our regular offerings to go to missions. The money is then distributed to the various ministries supported by our church. We strive to support only those missionaries and ministries which reflect our doctrinal convictions concerning the gospel. Some of those ministries are listed below. Bill Clark Ministries - Even though our brother went on to be with the Lord in November of 1998, his wife, Evelyn, and others continue the ministry which involves radio broadcasts in French, the translation of good books into French, Spanish, Portuguese, and other languages of Europe and the organization of pastors' conferences in Africa for African pastors. David Sitton - For many years, David was a resident missionary in Papua New Guinea. He now resides in the USA and makes frequent trips back to minister there. David has been particularly used of God in evangelizing areas that have been previously unreached. He also makes evangelistic trips to Mexico and is involved in training those who desire to work with tribal peoples. Brian Ellis - Bro. Ellis has been involved in missions in the Philippines for a long time. His church sponsors a school for pastors, a compassion ministry for orphan girls, and evangelistic work across the country. He also reaches out to pastors of other denominations with meetings focused on the issues of grace. |

Prem Waghmare - Bro. Waghmare ('wahg - meer') ministers in India and the United States. He is a native of India and makes trips to preach the gospel there. When in the States, he ministers Christ to those who come here, particularly from Hindu and Mohammedan cultures. Mexico - Our church is also currently setting aside funds that we pray will be used to help with the gospel work in Mexico. We are currently praying to find a ministry there with whom we can develop a church-to-church relationship. Joe Countiss - Joe currently serves with Adventures In Missions which organizes mission trips around the world. Previously he has served in Poland and Mexico. |
